Artistry with flowers, or floristic art? That is sometimes the issue when florists are given the freedom to create floral composition as expressions of their own preferences. Such creations communicate a sense of freedom from the restrictions of day-to-day routines, a release from the focus on sales and the pressure to appeal to and be understood by everyone. Creation for the sake of creating. For that timeless moment, without having to answer why it should be like this and not like that. Concern about the room or space where the floral creation is to have its "debut", or the new feeling that exists when a flower is no longer expected to be simply decorative.. Nothing has to make sense. The creating alone justifies the existence of the creation. Is this not the essence of art?

The Joy of Recreating Nature

Treasure nature, treasure flowers, treasure plants, treasure them all. Just looking at them energizes me and inspires love.

Designing unconventional flower arrangements in a family ambiance for over 25 years, Michel Vincent likes to create a natural atmosphere with botanical materials. Whether he pucks his materials from the roadside or a garden trellis, there is the joy of creating fresh combinations, all as seemingly spontaneous as nature itself. In 1993, as a member of Canada's floral design team, Michel participated in the Interflora World Cup in Stockholm, Sweden. The Canadian team took fifth place in the competition. Also in 1993, he was chosen by the Montreal Botanical Garden to create the Quebec Government Delegation display at Rockefeller Center in New York. For more than 10 years now, Michel has been a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) and an active designer, judge and lecturer in North America.

A decorative design inspired by the ecstasy of summer. Suspended over a pedestal as liberty in life are white flowers. White is the classic color of all times and ages. Give space tot he flowers, and they will give you comfort.

Calmness

There is a gentle harmony between the weeping willow and the splendor of this creation. The Eremerus tries to reach up the topof the tree as the earth and sky invites us to treasure the quiet way of life. A collection of vines becomes a connection with the flowers and creates space which enhances the character and forms of the floral sculpture.

Often forgotten, and assortment of vegetables can be used as an "offering." Their various shapes, colors and styles can produce and original design in addition to their more important and vital role in sustaining human life.

Scene in a Garden

A simple sculpture in which the kingdom of the Anthurium meets the world of iron. The berries add the treasure of nature and try to reach out to the grass waiting to be noticed and appreciated. The celosia leaves the light and the memory of a soft beauty.

Pure and Simple

Materials from the Canadian forests represent the Canadian scenery. Achieving an optimal natural expression means taking into consideration the natural form of the materials. Cyperus alter, Sarracenia, Amaranthus hypocondriacus, Latrix dechei (pink branches) are used to re-create the spontaneity of nature in this vegetative design.
